Really looking forward to finishing up the year with this event at @UWAresearch@uwanews UWA Data Institute. I’ve been thinking a bit about how complex systems, mathematics and #ai all connect. We know that it is all about #networks and #regression, but so what? @ComplexSystemsG
Just saw someone on twitter (yeah, X, whatever) complain about getting five review requests per week - I’m currently sitting at five per *day*! Either way, is it just me, or is the system breaking down?
Rather chuffed, unjustifiably so, at being ranked in the top 1% of scientists in the field of “Fluids and Plasmas”! I guess using the Lorenz equations makes me a fluid dynamicist. linkedin.com/posts/michael-s…
Discover how #UWA researchers are using a branch of maths known as ‘complex systems’ to help tackle real-world mental health challenges. 👩⚕️ ➕ 😊 @UWAresearch@ProfMSmalluwa.au/34sv0z
Really stoked to be funded under this scheme as part of @RMIT’s Mahdi Jalili’s project to: (a) electrify Australia; and, (b) train a cohort of researchers in the skills that Australia needs to do (a).

This is, without doubt, the scariest and best written appraisal of higher education in Australia. If you work in the sector, find it, and quiver in fear amazon.com.au/Campus-Chainsa…
The dumbest policy decisions ever. WA currently gives bonus points to students studying harder subjects to encourage them to do so - because, you know, they’re harder. This is being removed so that students of differing ability are not disadvantaged. abc.net.au/news/2024-02-16/a…
