1 thing I loved abt the film: Elizabeth Marvel’s & Eve Hewson’s performances, the ways the film offers a portrait of a faith community that does not demonize doubt but embraces it as a part of what it means to be in this world. Words at @NCRonline:
Hope to write more about it soon, but for now, some thoughts on DISCLOSURE DAY. Spielberg still believes that all of us can look up into the sky and collectively share a sense of awe. I can’t help but find that hopeful and beautiful: boxd.it/eIQFzN
The pope just released his encyclical "Magnifica Humanitas" responding to the ethical challenges of AI. Every theological educator should read this. While I'm trying to steward the tech critically, I value these words to guard against (idolatrous) misuse

I remember the days when there was such a strong resistance to online teaching but eventually I concluded that I had better get ahead of this &applied for a @WabashTeaches grant to develop an online Greek course which @NPTSem still uses today. Time to learn about AI agents 🤔
Heads up! This will be a significant work from a rising scholar. Looking forward to reading this. Just got to save my $$$ to get it or convince my library to purchase it
Why are the best books so expensive?!
Wow! I wonder if every volume will be open access. What a gift for scholars! And this first volume with Julien M. Ogereau comes from an expert on Macedonia in Roman times 🔥
I learned of a new Epigraphic Commentary on the NT series last year at SNTS. I'm delighted to see that not only is the first volume out, but it's also open access. This is ground-breaking work.

I’m truly sad to see @RevDrDre step down as dean. He is a wonderful leader, inspiring, and a good friend. I understand, however, the desire to pursue scholarship and writing. May the Lord bless this new chapter of his call as a scholar for the church. He will be sorely missed 🙏🏽
After years of faithful leadership, Rev. Dr. Dennis R. Edwards will step down on June 30, moving into a new season of scholarship. We’re deeply grateful for his steady presence and lasting impact.

Kim Bowes's Surviving Rome is a must-read for New Testament scholars interested in economic struggles of the 90% vs. educated elite of the Roman world. Here is a nice podcast with the author that summarizes her work (H/T Jordan Ryan) thepodcastbrowser.com/kim-bo…
Last year we shared an unusual vocabulary list of some 1300 rarer Greek words from major authors. This tool was used 75 years ago at Winchester College, where Classics was then thriving. Now we've imposed some order on the chaos to help your studies along: antigonejournal.com/2025/03/…

Just got my endorsement copy of @jrrdodson’s fantastic book Paul the Rabbi Philosopher! 🙌🏽 Many congratulations Joey! Now if I can figure out how to transfer all my PDF notes to the print book, I’m golden 🤔
Many congratulations to my colleague @DrSophMagTsang for her upcoming book on biblical hermeneutics which takes seriously the agency of the Holy Spirit in the interpretation of Scripture‼️ 🔥🔥🔥
This summation of possibilities for the Sitz im Leben of Philemon is so worth retweeting. Though I admit I lean towards the amicus domini theory, this snippet by @smehorn lays out a nuanced defense of the fugitive slave hypothesis. Really, anything Seth writes is worth reading🤩
Yes, I'm very much open to that perspective (3c below) and it certainly helps solve the problem of explaining their encounter. Here's my conclusion, which of course only summarizes prior points of discussion:
Here's something fun I've prepared for a webinar this Friday on New Testament Textual Criticism

Just finished writing a review of this for @Themelios_TGC. I think it’s the most important update to the UBS in half a century. It’s a significant update.
(I’ll post the review when it’s published.)
This morning at #Midwinter2026, Dr. Lee’s message—The Ministry of Meddling with One Another—challenged us to move beyond “come and see” and toward a deeper, more embodied community.

For @ebertvoices, I interviewed Park Chan-wook & Lee Byung-hun abt NO OTHER CHOICE, artificial vs natural light, how to respond to failure, & the protagonist’s fatal foolishness 🔗⬇️
