#VARdebate... (PS: I’m a #spurs fan too, and agree they should definitely not have disallowed that goal by #sheffieldunited yesterday). #VAR simply isn’t capable of measuring to that fine degree of accuracy, so it’s not 100% objective on tight decisions. #MOTD #MOTD2

3/3 #VARdebate It will usually be better than this, but ruling out a goal because someone was 2cm offside has no scientific basis, when the system error is clearly greater. If using objective measurement in the game, system error needs incorporating objectively too. #motd #MOTD2

2/3 #VARdebate. using cameras at 50 frames per sec, when feasibly a player or the ball can be moving at 5 meters per sec, means 1 frame = 10cm difference between frames. This could at both the measurement of the ball being kicked and the player who may be offside, so 20cm total.
