You are too kind, thanks for the post @DrSue_Walker. I wrote this to make birth less mysterious and scary for women. I hope my clinical colleagues might recommend it to the many they care for. Thanks to all! @the_birthbook
You could be forgiven this last week for thinking comedy & babies don’t mix #ArjBarker. Not at all. Check out 2nd Ed of The Birth Book. Kind, wise, warm- and funny from @ProfStephenTong. It’s your ‘access all areas’ pass to Birth Suite- if improv’s not your thing.

Tip for those applying for @nhmrc IGs: Don't write with 'assumed knowledge'. No jargon from your field. I am reviewing many drafts - it's a really common pitfall. Pls remember: the reviewers will not be from your specialty. They must understand every detail. Pitch it right

The Birth Book: 1133 print copies sold first five months (Feb to June). No idea if that’s any good. But I am happy if it has helped hundreds. @the_birthbook (Picture - first known purchase, received on the day of release by a lovely midwife buddy) #birth #labour

Really lovely summary Nienke. I’d add that improving ones’ writing takes effort. Especially the discipline of tweaking and polishing until the prose is gleaming.
Learning the craft of writing grant applications @ProfStephenTong My 🔑 take-home points: - Shorter sentences = readable & striking; use gunning fox index - Avoid acronyms; your novels at home don’t have them either. Grant = dead if readers flicks back even once for definition
