Very sad to hear that Prof. John Fitch, my undergraduate dissertation and PhD supervisor at Bath, passed away this week. John was a distinctive computer scientist, software engineer and composer, and a generous, original supervisor. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

There are real online harms. But many young people also see digital spaces as vital for friendship, identity, learning and support. The policy task is to move beyond "ban or no ban" and balance protection, participation, rights, evidence and platform accountability.
