Black men are the most exonerated in the United States. Wonder why per capita?
Kenneth Bullock, a 44-year-old Black man from Detroit, Michigan, walked free after spending over a decade behind bars for a carjacking he did NOT commit. In 2011, a woman reported her Dodge Charger stolen at gunpoint. Bullock was wrongfully convicted and sentenced to 30-70 years in prison. He maintained his innocence the entire time. This year, another man already in prison for murder confessed to the crime. The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Conviction Integrity Unit reviewed the case, and on May 28, 2025, all charges were dismissed. Kenneth is finally home with his family.

I have not yet read the full trial transcript. But so far, I do know this. Karmelo Anthony was entitled to a jury of his peers. He did not get that. On that ground alone, he is entitled to a new trial. Minorities are not interchangeable. The prosecutor’s reported proffered reasons for striking all black jurors —that they were teachers—appears to be pretext. Anthony needs a new lawyer on appeal and in a new trial. His trial lawyer allowed in opinion evidence that should have been struck. He also seemed unable to appreciate and counter the impact of racial overtones in that case. Those overtones are clear even on Twitter commentary as folks seek to paint Metcalf as having no culpability in what happened and Karmelo as a complete monster. The facts on how the matter escalated are more complicated than that. He and they had no such authority. They are also apparent in the statements that seek to deputize Metcalf and other kids with authority to remove Anthony. They had none and initiated the conflict. That does not mean they should have been killed but it means they have explaining to do. The lawyer for Anthony apparently did not require that explaining. It is fair to ask how the Anthony’s ended up selecting that lawyer. The trial judge must be disqualified in any new trial if he actually gave an interview about the case before the appeal was considered. He has negatively affected the appeal rights of the defendant. He should know better. He should also be disqualified if he has any relationship with the Metcalf side. In a criminal trial, the prosecution has the burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt. The defendant does not have to prove he is not guilty. Those rules apply to everyone. They apply to Anthony.
Community note
The Sixth Amendment guarantees criminal defendants the right to an impartial jury comprised of citizens from the state and district where the crime was committed. Nowhere does it mention race. constitution.congress.gov/constitution/a…

Folks definitely making clear in the nature of their comments why the striking of all black jurors, in addition to the other issues, was a problem for due process.

🚨 DRIVING WHILE BLACK: Cop climbs into car and beats Black driver for asking to speak to a supervisor. Craig Manning says he was racially targeted during a traffic stop. He made a LEGAL left turn, got pulled over, and asked to speak to a supervisor before handing over his license or exiting the vehicle. Dashcam footage shows an officer climbing into his car and punching him several times in the face and head. He was charged with traffic violations and resisting arrest. He’s now planning to sue Suffolk County Police and the officers. His attorneys say it was because he’s Black and note he had the camera installed out of fear of “driving while Black.” Another case of police using fists on a Black driver who simply wanted basic rights. How many more Black men have to get beaten on camera before these cops face real consequences?

That Democrats picked Graham Platner to run tells you how little they care about women or racial/ethnic minorities. Had there been indications of fuzziness on Dems’ trans issues or gay rights, he would not have been selected. But those in charge of the selection process could not bother to find the obvious evidence of problems re women and racial/ethic minorities. Moreover, it is my view that neither women nor racial/ethnic minorities have advanced as a group under Dem minority or majority governance. Dems cannot, therefore, argue that they are better than Republicans on these issues. Indeed, while they point to the GOP, Dems helped torpedo Abortion rights, Affirmative Action, the Voting Rights Act, pregnancy protections, and womens’ safety rules

The Grio does not speak for Black people—whoever it thinks those are. It regularly comes out with these statements attempting to encapsulate the views of Black people on one or more issues while ignoring that Black people actually may have widely diverse opinions. They inject race ad a key issue into questions that Black people may not see as centrally involving race—although there are issues that do involve race more centrally. The Grio plays this role so often that it seems to be an editorial strategy.
The reaction to a potential Karen Bass-Spencer Pratt runoff isn’t just about politics. For many Black voters, it’s raising questions about race, qualifications and leadership in America. Read more #OnTheGrio: ow.ly/1EHY50Z7EV1

Gallup’s decision to pose this question a “moral” one seems to reveal its own bias—as if morality must be the primary basis for objection and not science or a preference for a gov’t policy allocating benefits based on sex and not gender id.

🚨 White man killed, mutilated, and decapitated Missing 16-year-old Black girl identified as Tiffany Bradley 25 years later Her mutilated body was found in a Chelsea, Massachusetts parking lot in November 2000. She had been cut in half, decapitated, and her hands removed. Eugene McCollom, who killed her in his YMCA room, was already serving life. He told investigators she was being sex trafficked at the time. DNA and genetic genealogy finally gave her family her name back. Her last phone call to family was cut short and she sounded terrified. A teenage girl was brutally murdered and dismembered, then left unidentified for a quarter century. How many more cold cases like this are still waiting to be solved?

Hmmmm ….
As an election worker in Northern California for the 2020 and 2024 election, I witnessed fraud firsthand and how easy and untraceable it is. Let’s start at the beginning. California started issuing drivers licenses to people here illegally. California made the drivers license application with a tiny box saying I am not a citizen. If you do not check that box you are automatically registered devote and will receive a ballot in the mail. California started mass mailing a ballot to every registered voter with no confirmation. California legalized ballot harvesting, which made it so someone wouldn’t even have to fill out their fraudulent or illegal ballot. They could just give it to someone else to do it. Dropbox made it so these illegal ballots don’t have to be put through USPS to commit mail fraud. Despite mailing pallets to every registered voter in the state, you can go into a polling place and give any name and any address and they must print you a provisional ballot with no ID. It’s illegal and you will be fired if you ask for ID. Supposedly those provisional ballots are going to get cured by someone at the counting facility. Every night before the ballots were delivered to the counting center, they would separate them by Trump Biden and paper clip the stacks. It was supposed to be a random pair of people chosen to deliver them but every night it was the same purple and pink haired mother daughter pair that took the ballots away. 30 minutes after polls closed, they announced who had won the local race when our ballots hadn’t even reached the counting facility yet let alone anytime for curing provisional ballots Because there’s no ID required and the polls can just print unlimited ballots the same group of people could go from place to place and vote all day long. Completely untraceable.
