This sheep walked under a gravity-fed grain feeder right before it rained, and the perfect mix of seed, moisture, and wool made a tiny patch of grass grow on its back. It’s just like a walking garden.

JFK once invited to dinner 49 Nobel laureates, Robert Frost, William Styron, Ernest Hemingway, James Baldwin, Katherine Anne Porter, John Dos Passos, James Farrell and Lionel and Diana Trilling, and others. His line on the occasion became famous: “I think this is the most extraordinary collection of talent, of human knowledge, that has ever been gathered together at the White House—with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone." Some of you were alive when that happened.
“Michelle Obama is a man” shouted on the White House lawn in a ring sponsored by Bud Light only available on Larry Ellison’s Paramount Plus. What a way to celebrate America 250 and the twilight of liberal democracy.

The Tartan Army are a credit to Scotland. Here they are in full voice singing ‘Loch Lomond’ in Boston Stadium last night for the World Cup match between Scotland and Haiti. Absolutely glorious.

China has introduced strict new regulations for online influencers. Under the new rules, content creators must possess a relevant university degree or professional certification before they can discuss specialized topics such as medicine, finance, education, law, or health. The policy, issued by the Cyberspace Administration of China, aims to curb misinformation and raise the overall quality of online content. Influencers wishing to cover these subjects on platforms like Douyin, Weibo, and Bilibili are now required to submit proof of their qualifications. Platforms are responsible for verifying credentials and removing any non-compliant content. Violators face significant penalties, including fines of up to 100,000 yuan (approximately $14,000), account suspension, or permanent bans. While supporters view the measure as a necessary step to protect the public from misleading or harmful advice, critics argue that it could restrict free expression and limit diverse voices online. The regulation reflects China’s broader effort to tighten control over digital content and establish higher standards of credibility in the influencer economy.

Peace is never guaranteed. It is brokered, built, and embodied by brave individuals like General John de Chastelain. He understood the power of connection, obligation, and trust to help forge and implement the Good Friday Agreement. An honour to speak at @tcddublin under the banner of his name.

What has happened at the #2026WorldCup over the last 48 hours: • Swiss footballer Embolo's visa was put under review and he was only able to join his team days later. • Iraqi national team player Aymen Hussein was held for questioning for nearly 7 hours upon entering the United States. • The Iranian national team spent days dealing with visa procedures at the U.S. Consulate in Türkiye. The U.S. only allowed them entry on match days. Fifteen members of the delegation were denied visas. • Omar Abdulkadir Artan, named CAF's Best African Referee of 2025, was denied a visa. Despite travelling to the U.S. with a diplomatic passport, he was refused entry and sent back. FIFA announced that he will not be able to officiate at the tournament. • The South African national team arrived in the United States much later than planned because part of the delegation was not granted visas. • Members of the Senegal national team staff were forced to remove their shoes and subjected to lengthy searches, sparking accusations of racism. • The Uzbekistan national team was searched with bomb-sniffing dogs and the footage went viral in international media. • Some Scottish supporters, despite being eligible to enter the U.S. visa-free under the ESTA programme, had their travel authorisations revoked just days before departure. • Many supporters who had already bought tickets and booked accommodation had their visa applications rejected, resulting in financial losses.

Omar Artan didn’t just make the #FIFAWorldCup, he made history as the first Somali referee to get there, and as #Africa’s best. That milestone stands no matter what. So sorry to see this, Omar. You reached the summit of your profession and inspired a generation back home just by getting there, and being kept off the pitch you earned doesn’t change that. This won’t be the end of your story on the world stage. The world stands with you as one family, wishing you resilience now and many more major finals to come. Solidarity. #Somalia

World Cup referee denied entry to the United States He was set to become the first Somali referee to officiate at a FIFA World Cup. Somali referee Omar Artan was expected to spend the summer officiating matches at the FIFA World Cup. Artan was denied entry at Miami International Airport on Monday when he attempted to enter the United States, even though, according to Somalia’s Ministry of Sports, he possessed a valid visa. Late Monday evening, FIFA informed AFP that the referee would not participate in the tournament. “FIFA can confirm that referee Omar Artan will be unable to train and officiate at the 2026 World Cup after being denied entry to the United States,” a FIFA spokesperson said. Following the denial, the referee flew back to Istanbul, where he had been staying prior to his departure. Omar Artan has been a FIFA referee since 2018 and is the first Somali referee ever appointed to officiate at a FIFA World Cup. —TV2

'I’m truly bowled over by the outpouring of support and affection since revealing my dementia diagnosis. 'Receiving a dementia diagnosis can turn your world upside down, but I really do believe it’s better to know. 'Too many people are experiencing delays in diagnosis - on average 3.5 years - meaning they’re left in limbo without the help they need. 'An early diagnosis can open the door to treatment, support, care and the chance to take part in research that could change the future.  'People living with dementia and their families have waited long enough for change. We must demand better for everyone affected. 'I would urge everyone to join me in signing Alzheimer’s Society’s open letter calling on government to deliver a bold and ambitious plan for dementia.’ @jonsnowC4

Trump has a meltdown and ends the interview Welker: Just to be very clear, there's no evidence of what you're saying. Trump: There’s a lot of evidence. There’s tremendous evidence. There’s nothing but evidence. The election was rigged. And it’s happening again in California. They’re cheating. Welker: Do you have evidence? Trump: All I have to do is look. Welker: That’s not evidence. The local officials acknowledge they are slow Trump: They’re crooked. Just like you’re crooked. You’re either crooked or stupid.

The ultimate betrayal 😡. Henry is a 13-year-old Labrador who had been with his owner since he was a puppy. But one evening in Vancouver, Washington, that lifelong bond was shattered. At a local park, Henry’s owner let him out of the car as if they were going for a walk. Then, after removing his collar and ID, she led him toward a trailhead ~ before suddenly turning back, getting into her car, and driving away. Confused and loyal, Henry stayed behind, waiting for her to return. The heartbreaking moment was captured on a neighbor’s surveillance camera prompting Good Samaritans to call police. As Henry waited, he was eventually brought to a local shelter, Humane Society of Southwest Washington, where he remained safe while authorities investigated the case. The video quickly spread online, leading to a wave of tips that helped identify the owner and her vehicle. These tips led Animal Control officers to Maria Bruce, 63, of Portland, Oregon. While she later claimed she felt she had no other options, rescuers strongly disagreed—especially after learning she had reportedly told others Henry had died, while he was still waiting for her. I Paw’d It Forward, the rescue that spearheaded the search, wrote on Facebook. “She drove her lovely Tesla to the meeting so she could cry her fake tears and make up her fake story. She did finally admit it, but she really had no choice. I Have ZERO EMPATHY FOR HER. Less than zero even.” Authorities confirmed that abandonment is considered animal cruelty, and she was cited by prosecutors. And Henry? He’s no longer waiting alone. He found a forever family who will love him for the rest of his life. Henry’s story is a painful reminder—but also an important one. No matter how difficult circumstances may be, there are always better options. Shelters, rescues, and community resources exist to help both pets and their people. And this is also a good reminder that sharing stories like these does lead to answers, to justice, to brighter futures for vulnerable dogs. Every tap to like, share and comment matters in the world of social media. Support organisations and pages that share important stories and help them amplify their voices so their messages can be seen. What began as a moment of betrayal became something else entirely: proof that even when one person walks away, a whole community can step in with love. And now, in his golden years, Henry finally has what he always deserved—a family who won’t leave. 🐾💛
