🥉 Meet Our 2nd Runner-Up #VCPP2025
Dafuus Catherine Lapyilnaan, from Plateau State, emerged as the 2nd Runner-Up of the Vweta Chadwick Poetry Prize 2025 with her poem “She or a Statue.”
A 22-year-old undergraduate of the University of Jos, Catherine captivated the audience
In her words, “Poetry gives me room to express myself comfortably. It is a safe space where I can drown in words and not feel exhausted. As a petite, in a room where I can’t easily be seen, I want my words to be heard.”

Michael Idara Sunday from Akwa Ibom State took the stage by storm at the Vweta Chadwick Poetry Prize 2025 poweredby Project ASHA.
She left the audience in awe with her performance of poem “No Longer Yellow”

At 23 years, Idara believes #poetry is a tool for transformation. Her art confronts injustice, gender-based violence, and the everyday struggles often ignored by society.
An undergraduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Idara's voice fired up the auditorium in #Abuja.

From Benue State, she walked onto the stage with quiet strength and a voice that moved us all.
With her poem “A Soft Benediction Over Ruins,” she silenced the room and stirred every heart.
