ALT The May trees are in bloom, white petals with hearts of gold adorning their wise boughs. The cold lingers still, never quiet a frost, but biting in the late afternoon, and the damp morning air. Ours will be a cold rising, and we will hold standards of Hawthorne, our gold all spent and withered, as we cast aside this old and dead world to welcome, with terror, the new. The white of peace has fallen, blown away on a chill wind. We long for plump fruit, a velvet red. Art of communist flags and flowers behind this poetry text.
