🌟SAVE RURAL PETERBOROUGH🌟 Been to the site #Peterborough Council want to build 1,800 houses (plus 1,200 in another phase) north of #Castor & #Ailsworth😢 It’s beautiful. If I am Mayor - the site will not feature in my plan. I shall push to take it out of the Council plan 💙

This is a much more appealing approach from @HomesEngland - driving regeneration and investment to build homes rather than destroying John Clare countryside outside Peterborough gov.uk/government/news/homes…

The Joint Scrutiny Committee has recommended the site be removed from the Local Plan. Here’s why… Proximity to Castor Hanglands SSSI. Damage to the environment would be too great to mitigate (Cambridgeshire Wildlife Trust) PLUS infrastructure will cost £100M in tax payments

Thank you to the Peterborough councillors who are standing up for what’s right. There are better, more efficient and less damaging ways to deliver on housing goals bbc.com/news/articles/cn521d…

Peterborough City Council has published a new draft Local Plan including 3,000 houses by Castor & Ailsworth. It’s disappointing in the face of mounting evidence that John Clare’s countryside is not suitable for large scale housing: The wrong development, the wrong place.
