The Manx Motor Cycle Club would like to express its deepest condolences following the tragic passing of Kamil Holan after an accident at the North West 200. Kamil will forever hold a special place in Manx Grand Prix history as the first rider from the Czech Republic to win a Manx Grand Prix race when he claimed victory in the 2012 Newcomers A Race. He went on to achieve an outstanding fifth place finish in the 2014 Senior Manx Grand Prix before progressing to compete at the Isle of Man TT between 2015 and 2018. Alongside his success on the Mountain Course, Kamil also enjoyed many successful years competing in the International Road Racing Championship, especially at his home circuit of Horice. Kamil was a valued part of our Manx Grand Prix family and a close friend of Manx Motor Cycle Club committee members. His passion, determination and friendly nature made him respected and admired by many within the road racing community. Our thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with Kamil’s long time partner Zanetta, his three daughters, his mother, brother and the rest of his family and friends, and all those affected by this devastating loss. With a cruel irony Kamil lost his father Ivo just two weeks ago. Ivo was Kamil’s greatest supporter throughout his career. Rest in peace, Kamil and Ivo.

Not every child walks back into school after Christmas break feeling rested, celebrated, or safe. For some kids, the holidays are loud. Or lonely. Or heavy. Or something they’re just relieved is over. So as they come through our doors this week, love on your kids a little extra. A smile. A gentle word. Sitting down at their level. Letting them talk—or just letting them be quiet. You may be the first genuine affection they’ve felt in two weeks. The first adult who sees them. The first place that feels steady again. School isn’t just academics. Sometimes it’s refuge. Sometimes it’s regulation. Sometimes it’s love. Lead with grace this week.

This brought a tear to my eye...Bill, 80, spends his time making toys, for in his words "children who have nothing" His workshop is his garage, his studio where he paints them is his dining room, and he is just a lovely man with a huge heart. All the toys he makes go to Daffodils Dreams, who help disadvantaged children across Wigan and Leigh. Bill is the most magical Santa's elf you will ever see, making the most gorgeous old-school toys for children 🥰
