Day one with the Neural Band Meta Ray-Ban Display.
At GameStop mid-conversation holding a box I got a call. Saw it in the display, swiped, tapped my fingers to ignore it. The guy didn’t even notice.
The display has worked fine. I find it useful, but mostly for being able to quickly start a call, see something at quick glance, and have it blend into the background.
Good news, I was able to order 2 Meta Ray-Ban Display at my demo-- one for a buddy and one for me. Bad news, my prescription pair isn’t expected until November 20th.
So... I'm an engineer and have worked in tech for over 12 years. I just used Claude Sonnet 4 in VSCode for the first time today and I'm blown away. I definitely need more time with it to form an opinion but wow.
Seems like I’ll have to code review changes like I would with an another engineer or maybe even a more junior one, but this is already pretty useful. I imagine I’ll use it a bunch to implement features or fix annoying bugs I wouldn’t prioritize or build myself but would def code review.
I find myself messaging with Claude as I would another engineer with a big difference being it will take the things we talked about and immediately do something instead of it taking 2 to 8 hours. Non-work related example screenshot:
My RTX 5090 and PS5 Pro are gathering dust next to my Switch 2.
When I saw the Nintendo Direct showing Mario Kart World with people using cameras, I laughed—until a handful of my buddies and I plugged in some old Logitech cameras we had. The low friction and increased social presence took me right back to my garage where we grew up with the N64.
