Excited and a bit nervous to announce our 2023 conferences. Trying to keep a balance between the accessibility of virtual and the obvious benefits of seeing humans in person. It will be another experiment like always, but also excited to get this into the world❤️
📣 2023 conference announce:
* Portland, May 7-9 -- in-person in Portland!
* Atlantic, September 10-12 -- virtual in EDT/CEST timezone
We're excited for this "save the date" announcement out. Read the details in our blog post, with more to come soon!

Welcome Shamika! @thePSF's efforts (esp @EWDurbin's) and @TechAtBloomberg's support made this role a possibility. Shamika will do it great justice. We look forward to reporting the impact in coming months and years! 1/2
#Python limitation: The functools.cached_property() decorator blocks parallel calculation of cached values, even for *distinct* instances of the same class.
This makes it completely unsuitable for I/O bound methods in a threaded environment.

I worked with one woman and I struggled with her accent. I'd never heard one like it. Part Cantonese but not. I eventually learned that she was profoundly deaf. Without the ability to hear, she had learned to speak in Cantonese and THEN English. Wow. She was lip reading.
Thank you to Pythonistas all over the world for supporting our membership drive! 760 new members, 79 new/renewing supporting members, and 130 self-certified managing or contributing members joined @ThePSF family! This is the best community ever 🐍 💙 💛 !

PEP 287 is the proposal for adopting rst as Python docstring format.
rst since then has been used widely within Python community for documentation.
