The new Beneath Utopia album, Legacy, is now on Bandcamp, it would be great if everyone could give it a listen! If you think you know what Beneath Utopia sound like, there may be a few surprises.... beneathutopia.bandcamp.com/a…

The Gathering had been top of my "never seen live but really want to" pile for a while & at Shepherd's Bush Empire they definitely didn't disappoint. Fine setlist choices around the full Mandylion album topped off by Anneke's still jaw-dropping voice & an amazing crowd reaction

Second night seeing Machine Head, this time at Manchester Victoria Warehouse, just the right amount of great setlist changes mixed in with the classics everyone wants to hear. And bigger stage meant more pyro!

Machine Head were phenomenal last night at Glasgow Academy, who needs support bands when you can just take the whole night on on your own? Same again tonight in Manchester?

The Charlatans at Newcastle City Hall last night, a great mixture of the old hits and the new songs which were less familiar to me, but it's much easier to go along for the ride with a frontman who enjoys himself as much as Tim Burgess.

Blackbraid, Winterfylleth and Noctem were stunning at Manchester Rebellion last night, a black metal celebration. Blackbraid photos:

James were a triumph at Leeds Arena last night. And yes, there was a storm outside....

After miserable queuing weather, Kreator, Carcass, Exodus and Nails all warmed things up nicely at Glasgow Academy last night.

Exodus and Nails at Glasgow Academy last night. Got not one, but TWO Exodus plectrums too, one from the hand of Gary Holt himself.

The Manics were glorious at the Royal Albert Hall last night, lots of songs getting rare outings alongside the mainstays. And what a venue.
