I was 15 the first time I ever saw a dead person. While on break from Wendy’s I was whipping my truck around at the gravel pits and came across a motorbike that had hit a guardrail. On the other side was the guy, quite dead but not decomposed.

Peanuts aren’t nuts; they’re legumes. Strawberries aren’t berries; they’re aggregate fruits. Cucumbers aren’t vegetables; they’re berries. Rocky Mountain oysters aren’t oysters; they’re… well, you know…

As I age, I notice my thoughts are increasingly oriented toward two things: The eternal, and Life experiences to share with younger people that point them to the eternal Just me?

If I have a reason to live I will be given reasons to live by God. And I will accept those reasons and continue to live because his mission is better than mine.

As an Eagle Scout of the past century, I was today years old when I learned the bowline has been superseded by the Figure 8 on a Bight knot. Reduces the fail rate on rope by up to 50% compared to the bowline. Considered essential for search and rescue. “Over, under, through.”

The phrase “great minds think alike” is funny because couldn’t dumb minds also think alike?

I want the Sci-fi movie where aliens come and say, "Yeah, we want to see where God was born." Humanity realizing that Earth is the universe's pilgrimage site.

Hey grill dads, you can take ice cubes and put them in your smoker. Then refreeze the smoky water and you’ll have smoked ice cubes for your old fashioned.

Watched the movie Nobody yesterday. Great action film. The first 1/3 sets up the failure of stoicism in modern society. The second third demonstrates the power and necessity of the father to guide and protect his family. The last half was enjoyable boss v boss chess moves.

The purpose of art is not to descend to the lowest common denominator, but to invite humanity to ascend toward something greater. People should elevate themselves to meet the standards of art, not demand that art diminish itself to meet theirs. A random thought for the day. 🔖
