One World Cup performance shouldn’t convince Liverpool to spend big on an 18-year-old
Bouaddi’s display against Brazil has everyone talking. An 18-year-old controlling midfield on the biggest stage with that level of composure is special, and it’s easy to understand why top clubs are circling.
That said, this would still be a huge gamble. He’s tall and lean, still developing physically, and the Premier League can be unforgiving for young midfielders. His senior sample size remains relatively small, so there’s a real adaptation risk once the tournament spotlight fades and the weekly grind begins.
Right now, clubs would be paying for extraordinary potential rather than proven, consistent elite-level output. Football history is full of teenagers who exploded onto the scene but needed years to reach their ceiling or never quite got there.
That said, I’d still take the gamble if Liverpool also bring in a proven defensive midfielder. Bouaddi shouldn’t be the only midfield solution this summer, but as part of a broader rebuild, the upside is too high to ignore.
