A very fun project reached its conclusion in this latest published manuscript. With Jonathan and @QuantbioG, we look at and utilize the (surprising) negative eigenvalues in positiv semi-definit matrices :). Check it out!

Great honor to be invited to attend the workshop on Quantum Effects in biological systems. quebs.org This year the workshop is held by Huazhong University of Science and Technology @HuazhongUST I am looking forward!
A collaboration involving @QuantBioG, @KattnigDaniel, & @FabianSchuhmann used coarse-grained MD simulations to investigate the long-lived states and conformational changes in pigeon cryptochrome 4, the major contender protein to underpin magnetoreception.

Spread the word: we're #hiring
We offer two short-term #fellowships for master's degree holders and PhD-candidates (6-12 months) to excellent researchers, who are interested in doing research within one dedicated project of our CRC sfb1372.de/jobs
Neutrophil elastase and cathepsin G are similar #proteins with disparate functions. In SIAM News Online, @FabianSchuhmann develops a workflow to compare conformational changes in these proteins, despite the different lengths of their amino acid sequences: sinews.siam.org/Details-Page…

Last Friday our @siuyingalice defended her Ph.D. thesis with an amazing presentation and after masterfully answering the questions from the committee. Congratulations and good luck in your future career!
Our members, @FabianSchuhmann and Katarina Kretschmer presented their latest work with posters at the Biomolecules and Nanostructures 8 conference in Kraków, Poland. #biomolecules#nanostructures Congratulations!
