2020 saw the Sonic The Hedgehog movie get released after being (thankfully) delayed to change the design. Sonic 2 got released on SEGA AGES on the Switch, he showed up in Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, and was part of the SEGA Game Gear Micro releases in Japan!

In 1998, a prototype of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was found on a Chinese GeoCities page. It had unfinished zones, unused content, and early versions of levels fans had only heard rumours about. For years, people simply called it “Sonic 2 Beta.”
