The old ‘orange man’ graphic is misleading @ReadyPWC. Use this one from @RAWMedic. It addresses: 1) No sweat does not indicate heat stroke; 2) Altered mental status is the cardinal sign of heat stroke; 3) Specific heat stroke care = Cold water immersion. #HeatSafety
ALT Evidence based guide to heat stress. Heat exhaustion symptoms include nausea, fatigue, dizziness, weakness and rapid pulse. Seek shade, drink cool fluids and rest. Heat stroke symptoms include seizures, agitation, confusion, slurred speech and loss of consciousness. Treatement for heat stroke is immersion or dousing in cold water and calling 9 1 1. Only some of these signs or symptoms may be present but altered mental status is the cardinal sign of heat stroke. The presence or absence of sweat on skin is irrelevent.
