So grateful for an unexpected blessing with the opportunity to join the ELD team and Van Hoosen Middle School. Met a few families and students today...what a great new beginning.

So many of my colleagues have left the profession between years 3 and 8. So far, none have returned to teaching. Greener grass is real sometimes.

A reminder to myself as a district searches for a swap. Listen to teachers & listen to students. Qualitative data is data.

Twenty-seven years in elementary education and more than 13 curricular resources/methodologies for reading... I do believe all children can learn to read. If we could focus more on pedagogy and a bit less on resource roulette, I think we'd increase success.
I wonder what I've left out as I recap all of the curriculum materials and methodologies I've been asked to use to teach reading... this one was 1st.
