Just published my 1st blog with AWS DevRel titled "Everything You Need to Know About AWS for Your 1st Dev Job!" Check it → dev.to/aws/everything-you-ne… It's one thing to be super excited, especially in this job market, after landing your first job as a dev building with AWS... 😮‍💨 But as your first day gets closer... This is usually when you'll realize... No matter how many "Day in the Life" videos you've watched or AWS hands-on tutorials/projects you've done, you actually don't know what to expect in your first job. You start asking yourself.. → What should you already know? → What should you focus on first? → How do devs actually work with AWS on a day to day? So you start psyching yourself out, then imposter syndrome starts seeping in and you haven't even received your new company laptop. This is when you wished you had a guide to help you prepare for your first job as a developer building on AWS. Well.. that guide has arrived! I’ve officially joined the Developer Relations team at AWS as a Technical Evangelist! 🙌 This is a new hybrid role that uniquely sits between developer advocacy and product marketing! I’ll be focused on driving the creation of tech content and narratives that educate and empower devs to build and push the boundaries of what’s possible on AWS. I’m beyond grateful to now have builders as my primary focus and serve the dev community in this next chapter at AWS. I usually plan 2–4 years ahead. Actually… my goal was to transition to DevRel after 3–4 years here. But God had a different plan... His grace of speed collapsed a 4 year goal into just over 1! That's why I always say… Focus on your journey... not the destinations. Oh.. and follow the @awsdevelopers page! We got some amazing things coming this year! 😁

AWS MVP 2025 🙌 Shout out to my Account Teams on an amazing 1st year who empowered me to stretch beyond what I thought my limits were. To be frank, a day in the life at Amazon is just another day of drinking from the firehose. I don’t think the water pressure ever decreases.. You just learn how to drink faster and increase your drinking capacity 😂 Your limits are exceeded daily which enables you to accomplish what you never thought was even possible. It’s like looking at the top of the mountain from the bottom of the valley and wondering.. "How are we ever going to make it up there?" Then once you reach the summit, you stop to ask.. "How did we ever make it up here?"

Celebrating 1 YEAR as a TAM at AWS! What a way to end, especially after yesterday! But we thank God! Many would say that I hit the ground running.. But much of this year has been a result of taking ownership to act and deliver results for our customers and chasing my curiosity to learn, connect and collaborate. This first year was a year of strategically saying "YES" to just about anything that forced the acceleration of my growth and helped me understand how to better maneuver life at Amazon.. Because... assimilating into Amazon's culture can require an equal amount of effort as what needed for your daily role and responsibilities... but most won't ever understand this unless they actually worked here 😄 I also want thank everyone who directly or indirectly impacted me this year! You know who you are! Now let's end with a few highlights from my 1st year! Customer Impact: - Made it through THE Oct 20th 2025 😅 - Led $30M migration support of 467 environments and 17M users to AWS - Saved $200K with EKS spot instance adoption and CI/CD optimization - Delivered $149K savings through centralized VPC architecture solution Learning & Tech Growth: - Passed 3 new AWS certifications and now 10x AWS certified - Graduated from Serverless TFC with a specialization in App Integration - Published first AWS GenAI blog, exceeding blog success bar by 400% Leadership & Community Impact: - Mentored 47 candidates, where 31 joined AWS, with 29 becoming TAMs - Founded Hackathon initiative, leading customer hackathons across USA - Hosted a global AI/ML internal event with 150 registrants Recognition & Leadership Involvement: - Named AWS 2025 MVP - Awarded Marshal of the Month, earning 100 AWSome Points - Joined ES Leadership core team & launched initiative with L7 Leads - Led the ES Technical Evangelist Team to advance a 2025 Tier 2 ES goal

You can go back and forth ALL DAY on whether a degree, bootcamp or self study is the better route or a waste of time! But I highly believe the path to gaining skills doesn’t matter as much as the individual's traits, mindset and character on that path. What actually matters is: - How strong is your will? - How easy do you give up? - What’s your resilience limit? - How adverse are you to failure? - How disciplined is your focus? - How much are you willing to risk? - How long can you remain relentless? These are more important in deciding success.
