“Imagine if the Flyers were to head into next season without Dvorak, too.”
Would a 5-year extension for Dan Vladar be a risk because he's really only had one solid year as a starter? Absolutely.
But this narrative that the Tippett/Dvorak/Konecny contracts are bad is silly. Tippett and Dvorak are both signed for under market value (and Briere has left himself wiggle room to move either in the future), while Konecny was again the Flyers' leading scorer this season and helps set the tone off the ice in so many different ways.
Feels like some people just make up their minds at the time these deals are signed and never change them despite the results. I didn't love the Dvorak contract at first, either -- but then he finished strong, and a 34-year-old Charlie Coyle signed for 6 x 36. Imagine if the Flyers were to head into next season without Dvorak, too.
