There are four different categories of sports massage: pre-event, post-event, general and injury-specific. Each has a different goal. This is why it's important to build a therapist-athlete relationship. It doesn't make sense to see a new therapist each massage, injury, or event.

Longer runs means longer recovery. Body work, such as massage, can help prevent injury from high volume running, and strain of repetitive high impact.
