We have a winner of #MinCup24! #Rhodochrosite first competed in Mineral Cup in 2021, where it promptly lost (very badly!) to to bright green carbonate #malachite during its very first match. Defeated, it sat out 2022, before getting a second chance to start over in 2023, (1/7)
ALT A completed 32-mineral elimination bracket for Mineral Cup 2024 with Rhodochrosite winning the final match between Rhodochrosite and Kyanite, with Rhodochrosite written in pink and Kyanite written in blue. Eliminated minerals from Round 4, left to right, are Perovskite and Dioptase. Eliminated minerals from Round 3, from top to bottom alternating left to right, are Stibnite, Wavellite, Calcite, and Topaz. Eliminated minerals from Round 2 are Abelsonite, Howlite, Quartz, Titanite, Corundum, Vivianite, Omphacite, and Charoite. Eliminated minerals from Round 1 that will not return in 2025 are Kaolinite, Arsenuranospathite, Copper, Durangite, Whewellite, Ammineite, Atacamite, Spinel, Turquoise, Mellite, Mercury, Ringwoodite, Proustite, Cacoxenite, Celestine, and Spodumene.

Gonna vote Wavellite! I also love Dioptase, but Wavellite brings it's delightful arcs of crisp green, like a kiwi. since it's on it's first trek into the Mineral Cup Bracket, and riding high! Round 3 is exciting!

Another day, another Mineral Vs other Mineral! Today's are Celestine (Ooohhhh) and Calcite (normal and wonderful) and I'm in for Celestine today as sometime I am going to visit the Celestine Giant Geode on an Island in my local lake (granted, it hosts a few major cities) so yeah.

Proustite is unusual as it’s brilliantly red&gorgeous, but you can’t touch it for its rare origins of silver, arsenic and sulfide! Looks like 😋 candy but NO 🤢! Titanite's colors are many greens, has a faceted delight to its crystal structure, works as gem, paint, or just👁️👁️💚

A delightful thing for us today, the amazing mineral Ringwoodite has a chance to soar! I can't really show a photo of it, as it's very hard to capture! But know that Kyanite did ride high in the voting, but the mystery of the water protector Ringwoodite is drawing great interest!
