I once covered a high school soccer playoff game where the losing team outshot the winning team 42-1.
The 1 shot was a prayer from the center line that bounced over the keeper’s head in the final five minutes for a 1-0 win.
Switzerland had dominated proceedings in San Francisco. They had 27 shots to Qatar's six.
But they were powerless to stop Boualem Khoukhi's superb header in the 94th minute.
Qatar's record read three games, three losses when they hosted in 2022. It's a huge point for Julen Lopetegui's side — their first ever at a World Cup.
Switzerland will be kicking themselves, though their goal was not without controversy with uncertainty over whether Remo Freuler was onside in the build-up to their penalty.
