Ever wonder how often prosecutors reject and dismiss cases? We did. @ThePPIs collected data for 15 offices across the country. Quite a few different levels of selectivity. Check it out!
#BreakingNews: @ThePPIs released a new report looking at the rates that prosecutors reject and dismiss cases. The findings surprised us! #data #transparency #prosecution. ow.ly/Rbwg50K52Yl

Improving the culture of prosecution starts with understanding what that culture already is. Kudos to @MultCoDA on this important step toward transparency, and congrats to @kshenderson7 on this informative report! @ThePPIs @jsp_partners @safety_justice

New qualitative article out in Criminology! Prosecutors embrace colorblindness in their work, and race-neutral cultural scripts like “Every case is unique” and “We only prosecute what the police bring to us” reinforce that approach. @ThePPIs onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…

Thx everyone. Last thought: as an elected prosecutor, plan to spend at least 3 years building data culture. Lead by example by describing how you use data to find solutions. Be persistent in messaging about the importance of checking trends monthly. Stay engaged with communities

By passing laws that require prosecutors to adhere to the data. Also, we can hold the elected accountable. #PPITownhall #DataandCJ

Policymakers/practitioners should put themselves in defendants’ shoes. Going to trial may result in a criminal record. Diversion can avoid criminal records only if individuals finish the program. But due to work & finances, it can be hard to complete a program #PPITownhall
