On this day, 80 years ago, the American 71st Infantry Division liberated Gunskirchen, one of the subcamps of Mauthausen.
There, they found 15,000 survivors - mostly Hungarian Jews - left behind in horrific conditions after the SS abandoned the camp just days earlier.

86 years ago today, the #Kristallnacht pogrom took place. Jewish homes, businesses and synagogues were attacked by German troops throughout the night of the 9-10 November, and 30,000 Jewish males were rounded up and taken to concentration camps.

Today is Yom HaShoah, the day the Jewish community comes together to remember the 6 million Jewish men, women and children murdered in the Holocaust. It falls on the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, the largest single act of Jewish resistance during the Holocaust.
