When stores cut staffing and expand self-checkout without proper oversight, it creates more theft, more stress on workers, and higher prices for consumers already struggling with the cost of living.
That’s why I introduced Int 729 to bring real accountability to self-checkout in NYC - with staffing standards and transaction limits that put safety, workers, and customers first.
