Why do we uphold Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment? It reduces mortality, improves independence , reduces hospital admissions and can even reverse the progression of frailty. CGA is the way! buff.ly/3ZaQZJc #BGSconf

Really encouraging to see the same trends emerging from big cohort data supporting the role of geriatricians in the emergency general surgery space

nela.org.uk/reports#pt NELA shows frailty assoc’d with worse outcome (not new/surprising) but geriatric medicine input reduces mortality (5.9v9.5% in non-frail, 13v22% in frail). But isn’t routine practice! Lots to unpick but chat to @NHSiNet if you want to establish POPS
