Need to get rid of the weekly metric.
Brad Keselowski is officially out of the race. He has currently dropped to the cut line in points as they run. A few weeks ago, RFK Racing had all three drivers in the Chase. Now Preece has dropped out and Keselowski is suddenly in jeopardy. Crazy turn.

NASCAR needs to move off the metric for qualifying week to week. Go back to random draw

For some reason, as a small child, the purple Exide car was deeply associated to me as the Frooties car.
This paint scheme left such an impression on me. We all loved the obvious, but what random or unexpected scheme is locked into your memory.

Mid 2000s nascar race: The Jeff Gordon β€˜about to obliterate a respectable top-10 finish’ subplot:
20 years ago today #NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon had a brake failure at over 200mph heading into turn 1 at Pocono. There were only 8 laps left in race and all the photogs had left the turn for winners circle. I’ve never seen pix of this crash from anyone else. 🀯 πŸ“Έ @rebilasphoto

This race began the death spiral to Jeff’s 2005 season. Had 3 wins at that point & still missed the Chase
On this date [June 5] in 2005: Jeff Gordon in the midst of a wreck @MonsterMile on lap 41 courtesy of Tony Stewart's front bumper coming off turn 2. JG: "Tony was a little bit better than me, and no doubt I held him up. I just think he ran out of patience." #NASCAR

Given the switch to the NextGen, Dales graveyard is going to be a huge microplastic hotspot for the Mooresville water table in about 50 years
This car is now in dales graveyard I shot this a few years ago when I walked it

Feels like SVG, Stenhouse, Larson, Suarez, even Dinger last week have shown some impressive speed we haven’t seen from the Chevys much this year. Did the Chevy teams hit on something, you think?
Ride onboard with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. as he drives from 13th to 4th on the final restart at Nashville. "Great job there, boys. Great strategy."

Mind you it was 9pm on the west coast. Not everyone lives in EST. Also there is no alternative here. You run the race as soon as you can manage to run it before having to postpone till Monday. Such an invented complaint
The issue isn't having Sunday night races -- I'm all for it and think it's a good thing to grow the sport, especially during the summer. The problem is that the Nashville race didn't end until after midnight on the east coast and that's a problem.

4 hours of racing is too long. 4 hours of anything is too long. Stages are needed for TV.

SVG quickly becoming the superior snarky Antipode in NASCAR
Shane van Gisbergen's quotes are quickly becoming my favorite: "It's amazing, you start up front, and your car feels so nice, and then you go to the back on strategy, and it just felt like a bucket of shit."
