What makes "My Iron Lung" especially important is the context behind the song itself. Radiohead wrote it partly out of frustration with the massive success of "Creep." "Creep" made them famous, but they also felt trapped by it, like audiences and labels youtu.be/sdtKjByGGHM?si=E3LL… 👇

and Jonny Greenwood's guitar noise feels harsher and less polished. You can hear Radiohead leaning into dynamics, very quiet verses exploding into chaotic choruses, which became a defining trait of their later music.
