We are being duped.
There has been numerous rumors and speculation as to who the identity of the character that Sadie Sink is playing with many early rumors suggesting she's the 'true' Mary Jane or Firestar but, the only rumor that has still caught on to this day despite no official evidence nor confirmation form Marvel or Sony is Jean Grey and it makes little to no sense.
First off, why introduce a key pillar X Men character in a Spider Man film when Spider Man at least in his own books has barley had if any run ins with the x men; but some will try to connect the two with this plot point of Peter getting 'mutated' abilities meanwhile in his comic runs his spider DNA has lead to some very disturbing scernarios.
Another reason why I don't believe she is Jean Grey is because in the most recent trailer there was a big shockwave type thing that is either controlling or freezing people all over New York and the only two characters we see unaffected are Spider Man and Frank Castle and we are even given highlighted dialogue that Peter is the 'only one' who is immune to whatever kind of influence is going around.
In addition, Sadie's mysterious hooded character seems to have been around lots of 'technology' and I am thinking "why would jean Grey rely on technology" to see what she is doing when she has telepathic power because she is already there in the moment feeling and seeing everything she is doing over another's person.
Also, in the trailer, it is edited in a way to make it look like her 'hooded character' is the one making Bruce turn back into the hulk but we see that this hulk isn't green, its green looks more greyed out and what makes me further doubt this is the work of Jean Grey is that I know she is able to manipulate minds but, I never see her abilities affect physical appearances or visual characteristics like this.
The way the marketing has been surrounding this is really starting to give me Iron Man 3 vibes all over again when we all believed that the Mandarin was the main villain only for the twist to be that the 'mandarin' persona was nothing but an act 'wag the dog' style and the real villain was Aldrich Killian who was jealous of Tony Stark. I am fully under the impression that there is a darker more sinister villain they are keeping in the shadows...
