We must be morally prepared for the fact that Russia will deliberately try to destroy Ukraine's many ancient monuments and its most important sites of cultural and historical heritage. Today, they desecrated the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra with their violence. They struck the Dovzhenko Film Studio. The Mystetskyi Arsenal art center was damaged, as was a church in Dnipro. Since fascist Russia is somehow unable to defeat the Ukrainian army, and its missile terror against civilians is failing to produce results, the mighty and invincible Russia will now bravely wage war against historic churches with even greater ferocity.

This is the Assumption Cathedral at the Pechersk Lavra in Kyiv, one of the most sacred sites in Ukraine. The Russians blew it up in 1941. And they tried to do it again last night. We will repair it again. And we will not surrender to these terrorists and war criminals.

But we must be smarter than their propaganda. Yes, the Irish government has made mistakes and deserves real criticism for some of its positions and policies. No nation’s leadership is beyond reproach. But that is not the same as blaming the Irish people themselves. The heart of Ireland — its working people, its communities, its diaspora — has shown real solidarity with Ukraine time and again. Let’s keep that in mind. Hate the propaganda. Challenge bad policy. Every time I read that sanctions against Russia should not be made tougher because they might affect “оrdinary Russians,” I have one question. Why is the world so concerned that Russians might have a less comfortable life, yet speaks far less about Ukrainians who are being kіІIеd every day by Russian mіssiles and drones? Sanctions may cause economic hardship for Russians. But that hardship does not thrеаten their lives. It does not dеstroy their homes in the middle of the night. It does not burу their children under the rubble. It does not force them to wake up to еxplosions and live with the fеar of losing their loved ones every single day. So what is the logic? Why does the comfort of citizens of the аggressor state matter more to some people than the lives of those their state is kіIІіng? For years, we Ukrainians have been paying the highest price -with our lives, our health, our homes, and our future. And when someone argues that Russians must be protected from the consequences of sanctions while remaining silent about protecting Ukrainians from Russian mіssiles, it looks like moral blіndness. I am not concerned about the comfort of people whose state brings dеаth to my nation every day. I am concerned about the lives of Ukrainians.

Russia itself chose to end the partial silence that had lasted for several days. Overnight, more than 200 attack drones were launched against Ukraine. Aerial bombs were used again on the front – more than 80 of them, and over 30 air strikes were recorded. Attack drones were shot down in the Dnipro, Zhytomyr, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions, as well as in Kyiv and the region. Energy facilities, apartment buildings, and a kindergarten were damaged, and there was also a strike on an ordinary civilian locomotive on the railway... People have been reported injured as a result of these strikes. And, unfortunately, there are fatalities. My condolences to the family and loved ones. We have said that we will respond in kind to all Russian steps. Russia must end this war, and it is Russia that must take the step toward a real, lasting ceasefire. Until that happens, sanctions against Moscow are necessary and must remain in place and be strengthened. It is important that there be no easing of pressure and that partners do not stand aside, but continue working together for security, justice, and a reliable peace.
