The wheels are turning, the vault has opened. See below our first of many papers to come on the very persistent effects of “temporary” noise-induced hearing loss. Good science is hard to come by. We are so proud of our team, led by @Jane_Mondul biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

New preprint just posted, on the widespread nature of neuromodulation by multimodal sensory and motor inputs (e.g. visual stimulation and saccadic influences in auditory areas, and vice versa). biorxiv.org/content/10.64898…

Our new paper is up, part of a series on how noise exposure can impair hearing without cochlear hair cell or synapse loss. We found that spatial hearing in noise is disrupted long after clinical measures recovered and suggested normal hearing. 🧵 below. biorxiv.org/content/10.64898…

The first of a series of papers to come on the very persistent effects of “temporary” noise-induced hearing loss, and its unique aspects in primates. I’ve never been more proud. biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Congrats to senior grad student @adriana_et_al on getting her F31 grant "Neural Correlates of Auditory, Visual, and Audiovisual Motion Perception in Macaque Extrastriate Cortex" funded by NEI! 🐵🧠👂👁️🫨💨
Excited that after a year of waiting, I can finally announce my @NIH F31 grant was funded by the National Eye Institute! Grateful to @VandyWallaceLab and @RamRamLab for entrusting me to venture into new territory for both labs with this ambitious project.

Very excited to share this in its final form at the Journal of Neurophysiology! At times it seemed like this one wasn’t going to make it out into the world, but “data find a way” doi.org/10.1152/jn.00439.202…

Another successful dissertation from our lab! Chase will be working with Charlie Schroeder, @realnicenelly and @AnnieBarczak at Nathan Kline Institute in his next phase.
Proud of our friend and collaborator, @Chase_Mackey of @RamRamLab, for successfully defending his thesis yesterday. He will soon be moving up to NY to start a postdoc with Charlie Schroeder at the Nathan Kline Institute. Keep an eye on him, we know he is destined for big things!

Check out our new paper in Hearing Research, which, to our knowledge, is the first single reference with a comprehensive normative characterization of clinically traditional and clinically novel metrics and stimuli in DPOAEs and ABRs in a young cohort of 36 male macaque monkeys.

We hope these data will lay the groundwork for future studies investigating the effects of subclinical pathologies and contribute to the development of an improved audiologic test battery for differentially diagnosing auditory disorders. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

Our new preprint is up! We report correlations between single-unit activity and detection performance, and we report subcortical choice probabilities exceeding those typically reported in sensory cortex. (1/2)
