While monitoring the implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM) in Sembabule District, @Onc_nrm1 Coordinator Mr. Dumba Denis came across Ms. Naluwooza Lamulatu, a resident of Kasambya A Village in Mateete Sub-county. Previously dependent on subsistence farming, Naluwooza received UGX 970,000 from the PDM funds in April 2023. She wisely invested the money by purchasing a heifer. Today, that single heifer has multiplied into three cows, and one is already producing more than 5 litres of milk daily. The milk is sold to generate income while also meeting her household needs. From milk sales alone, Naluwooza now earns a daily profit of UGX 7,000. Encouraged by her progress, she used part of her earnings to buy 10 goats. She is optimistic that the goats will multiply quickly, allowing her to further diversify and expand her ventures. Naluwooza’s story is a shining example of how strategic investment of PDM funds can transform lives and create sustainable livelihoods. #ONCUpdates

ONC TESTIMONY: BUYENDE MOTHER TURNS PDM INVESTMENT INTO A PERMANENT HOME As part of the Office of the National Chairman's (@Onc_nrm1) ongoing monitoring of beneficiaries under the Parish Development Model (PDM) across the country, another inspiring success story has been documented in Buyende District. During a field monitoring exercise conducted by ONC Buyende District Coordinator Mr. Baluye Michael Waiswa, the team visited Mrs. Birungi Cissy, 48, a resident of Lufula Zone, Bukungu Ward, Bukungu Town Council, Buyende District, whose journey demonstrates the transformative impact of government wealth creation programmes. Mrs. Birungi became a member of Bukungu PDM SACCO and received UGX 1 million under the Parish Development Model in 2023. Determined to make productive use of the funds, she ventured into mixed farming, investing UGX 400,000 in poultry and UGX 300,000 in the purchase of a pregnant goat. Through proper management and hard work, her enterprise steadily grew. Later in 2023, she sold her chickens and earned UGX 600,000. In addition, she generated income from crop farming, earning UGX 700,000 from her garden. She also expanded her livestock enterprise and eventually sold a bull for UGX 5 million. The proceeds from her farming activities enabled her to save significantly and achieve a major household milestone. She used the earnings to renovate her boys' quarters into a fully-fledged permanent house, greatly improving her family's living conditions. Mrs. Birungi expressed sincere gratitude to H.E. President Yoweri @KagutaMuseveni for initiating the Parish Development Model, noting that the programme provided her with the capital needed to invest, grow her enterprises, and improve her household welfare. At HK Beauty Salon in Wobulenzi, two professional hair dryers have transformed the business into a vibrant skills hub, now training 15 young people in professional hairdressing and creating vital employment pathways for local youth. In Kira Municipality, Mr. Waswa Abdul Karim Tamale scaled his poultry enterprise from 200 chicks to over 7,000 birds within three years. His integrated two-acre farm, blending poultry, maize, and bananas, now generates approximately Shs12 million every 35 days and employs 16 workers, exemplifying a seamless transition to commercial agriculture. In Luwero District, Mr. Sula Kanyike expanded his goat herd from two to twenty through disciplined husbandry. The enterprise delivers steady income, supports a full-time worker, and produces manure that enhances soil fertility for his coffee and banana plantations. In Kigoloba Village, Lutembe, Katikamu Sub-county, she met Mr. Sula Kanyike, who received a starter pair of goats (one male and one female) under President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s wealth creation initiative. Through sound husbandry and effective management, Mr. Kanyike has grown his herd from two to 20 goats. Sula Kanyike, a farmer from Kigoloba Village, was initially given just two goats to start his livestock enterprise Hajjat Hadijah's Impact on Uganda's Communities. Through proper husbandry, the project has expanded to 20 goats. The farming project now supports Kanyike's household by generating a reliable income, allowing him to hire a worker and produce manure to fertilize his coffee and banana plantations.
