The strongest volunteers at Amrit Vav are not the youngest. Every Sunday, senior citizens arrive before everyone else, cleaning the steps, removing waste, and preparing the site long before the drive begins. They ask for nothing in return. Their selfless seva is a reminder that when it comes to protecting our heritage, age is never a barrier. We are honoured to serve alongside such Ramdoots.

We are identifying historic stepwells (Vavs/Baodis) in and around Vadodara that may require documentation, conservation, or restoration. If you know of any forgotten, neglected, or lesser-known stepwells on public or community land, please share the location, photos, or any available information. You can reply below, send a DM, or WhatsApp us at 9289559890. Every lead helps preserve a piece of our heritage.

We just completed a detailed inspection of our 7-storey, 150 year old stepwell. What we discovered was far more alarming than expected. 3 major findings emerged. The 3rd one shocked even our experts.

The DPR will be ready within a week. Only then will we know the full scale of intervention needed to stabilize and restore this 150-year-old, 7-storey stepwell. And based on what we’ve discovered so far, the challenge ahead is much bigger than we initially imagined.

Over the next few days, we’ll be sharing the complete findings, restoration plan, and the resources needed to save this historic baavdi. When that moment comes, we hope you’ll stand with us. Until then, help us spread awareness by sharing this thread and bringing more people into this mission. Because saving heritage is never the work of one organization it takes an entire community.

A simple collaboration can equip thousands of ramdoots working to clean and conserve Bharat’s forgotten temples, stepwells, and heritage sites. If you know a CSR-1 registered NGO, please help us connect. Every share matters.
Ramdoot Restores foundation is looking to collaborate with a CSR-1 registered NGO. A corporate donor has offered a donation of face masks and requires the initiative to be routed through a CSR-1 registered organisation. We are seeking a partner NGO willing to collaborate with us on this project. These masks will support our growing heritage cleanliness and restoration drives across India, helping volunteers safely clean and conserve neglected temples, stepwells, and heritage sites. If your organisation holds a valid CSR-1 registration, please DM us or WhatsApp at 91 92895 59890. Please amplify this message and share it within your networks so we can find the right partner and expand this initiative across Bharat. Team Ramdoot Restores Restoring Heritage

Last Sunday, Team Ramdoot Restores conducted its first heritage cleanup drive at a centuries-old, 3-storey vav in Maninagar, Ahmedabad, situated on the ancient Ahmedabad–Surat trade route. In just one day, Ramdoots cleared the entire surrounding area, removed years of garbage and overgrowth, and began excavating debris from within the stepwell itself. What was once hidden beneath neglect is slowly re-emerging. If enough Amdavadis join us, we believe this historic vav can be cleaned and revived within the next 4 drives. Want to be a part of this mission? Fill out the volunteer form in our bio and join the next cleanup drive. docs.google.com/forms/d/1MR2… #RamdootRestores #Ahmedabad #SaveOurHeritage #Vav
If Ahmedabad doesn’t wake up now, this centuries-old stepwell on an ancient trade route could disappear forever. Once built to provide water and shelter to traders travelling between Ahmedabad and Surat, Uttam Nagar Vav now lies buried under debris and neglect. This Sunday, 7th June, at 7:00 AM, Team Ramdoot Restores will begin its cleanup and conservation drive at Uttam Nagar Vav, Maninagar, Ahmedabad. We don’t need your money. We need your support. Share this post, spread the word, and if you’re in Ahmedabad, join us on the ground. @RamdootRestores 📝 Volunteer Registration Form: docs.google.com/forms/d/1MR2…

Today, Ramdoot Restores Foundation met Hon’ble Mayor Shri Hitesh Barot Ji regarding our upcoming heritage and stepwell (Vav) clean-up drive in Ahmedabad. We presented concerns related to volunteer safety, logistical requirements, and institutional support. The Mayor graciously heard our proposal and guided us to coordinate with the Solid Waste Management and Heritage Departments. We look forward to working together towards the preservation and protection of Ahmedabad’s historic heritage. #HeritageConservation #Ahmedabad #StepwellRestoration #RamdootRestores

“We came here to restore a stepwell. We didn’t expect to find this.” During our latest restoration drive, the Ramdoot Restores team recovered multiple idols and a sword like object buried beneath layers of sludge and debris. For years, nobody knew they were there. Every truckload of mud removed from this stepwell is revealing objects, stories, and questions that have remained hidden from public view. Were they discarded? Forgotten? Deliberately placed there? We don’t yet know. What we do know is that countless heritage sites across India remain neglected, and who knows what else lies beneath them. This is exactly why restoration matters @RamdootRestores #RevivingHeritage

Just when we thought we were making real progress, the skies opened up. For nearly 2 months, our RAMDOOTs have battled water, mud, and debris to uncover the ancient Amrit Vav. Tonight, unseasonal rains and powerful winds have brought all work to a standstill. The very water we have been pumping out for weeks is now rushing back in. Tomorrow, we will install additional pumps and begin the fight again. We refuse to give up. But tonight, Amrit Vav belongs to the rain. @RamdootRestores #RevivingHeritage
Latest Updates From Amrit Vav • We have now reached the ancient well of the vav and managed to pump out enough water to expose its floor. For the first time in decades, the debris and hidden remains beneath the water can finally be seen. @RamdootRestores #RevivingHeritage
