Ngl, the reason it looks like that is that it's clearly a product of its time, but even so, it had the ideas in the right places
I don't think it's ideal for Sonic right now; at most, it should be a design for a spinoff, but it definitely understood what Sonic is like

Huh? thats not his "Smash Bros look" thats just what his finalized design looks like.
It's all based on the physical sculpt mastermodel from the 90s. Even the recent 2D art redraws are just making it closer to that, which honestly is unideal, prefer that stay to the 3D stuff lol
