I'm getting questions here and off Twitter. Yes I was locked out for sharing the advice from the Danish Health Authority, where children can no longer be vaccinated against Covid. The Danes believe that it was probably a mistake, initially. #1/7
So Twitter in its infinite corporate wisdom locked my account. I won't be engaging here any more. Enjoy the hellsite and see you elsewhere

But Australia & Victoria would not let us make that choice and engage with society. It's two doses for everyone over 12, or gtfo. I'm a statistician who is used to measuring risk. I know about edge cases, and stratifying population to make sure your advice is tailored. #6/7

I left Facebook a few years ago (because of personal info misappropriation, and their deception) and I don't miss it. Twitter is a fair bit harder. Thanks everyone. DOS #7/7

I'm interested to see how long it takes for Australia to come around to Denmark's position. Imagine forcing 12-17yo children to be double-vaccinated in order to attend a public place, when there was never a net health benefit for them. That was the law up until a few months ago.
🇩🇰 Child vax rec from Denmark: "Children only very rarely get seriously ill from the omicron variant...from July 1st, it will no longer be possible for children <18 to get their 1st dose & from Sept 1st they will no longer be able to get their 2nd dose" sst.dk/da/corona/vaccination

Practically half the NBA was looking to hire a software developer or a data engineer last year. If there's an open position with an analytics group for any sport, I bet you it's for an engineer. Be a dev 😈
👩🏻‍💻 Spilling some SWE tea 🍵 🚨 Panel: Software Engineering for Sports Analytics Hear from @laurenpoe (ESPN), @caseythayer6 (Zelus Analytics), and Anna Zhao (Utah Jazz) on doing that code thing. Moderated by @bunsushi (Brooklyn Nets).

The real debate should be whether other sports should introduce draws, not whether footy should get rid of them.

CD: We have turned this binary variable {Goal | Not-Goal} into a continuous value Statisticians: Bravo! Less noise in this metric CD: Now we will dichotomise the totals into this bigger binary variable {Win | Loss} S: Wait … what?! NO!
“Expected scores” is a concept invented by Champion Data, an alternative reality in which there’s a statistical likelihood that a goal, behind or miss will be scored from a particular position. In this parallel universe, Richmond are equal with Geelong. theage.com.au/sport/afl/shou…

If you're not already following @Mike_Honey_ for brilliant Aus Covid data analysis & visualisation, start with this new thread. Some hope for NSW & Vic, worry for the rest especially Qld
The severe disease (Hospitalised ICU) impact of covid continues to grow in Australia - nearing the BA.1 peak (late January). But I hope (hopium?) it might've peaked already in some areas, following their recent peak in cases. Details below. 🧵

My story in a similar theme ... in 1990 my 15yo brother was hit by a car in USA, breaking both legs. During recovery his host family bought him a newly released Game Boy. It had one game: Tetris. Soon after, he came home to Aus with possibly the first Game Boy to arrive here 1/
When I was a kid there was a home video game contest. I got the highest possible score, so I knew I was going to win one of the big prizes - a trip for two to San Francisco. I gave the envelope to my mom to mail, and I saw it months later in her purse, still unmailed.

They flew me and Dad to Melbourne for the final, since I was still a minor like all the other state winners. My brother and I each reached the final 3. There was some weird game switch that threw us and my bro swears they robbed him, but I was 1990 Australian Tetris Champion 5/

Won a huge TV and dozens of games and accessories. I qualified again in 1991 and got to meet Agro and Ann-Marie for the televised final on the Gold Coast. My turn to finish third. I've never seen footage. 6/6
