Coaching requires significant personal sacrifice and an unwavering commitment to the development of athletes. Coaches routinely miss sporting events, birthdays, family gatherings, and other personal engagements to be present at practices and competitions. They do not make excuses or prioritize convenience over responsibility. Instead, they consistently demonstrate their dedication by showing up prepared, engaged, and committed to helping athletes reach their full potential. Athletes should be willing to demonstrate that same level of commitment. When practices are missed for cosmetic appointments, parties, social outings, or other nonessential activities, it reflects the priority being placed on athletic development and team goals. Success requires discipline, consistency, and sacrifice. An athlete who is willing to set aside long-term goals for short-term enjoyment cannot expect to achieve elite results. No coach should desire an athlete’s success more than the athlete desires it themselves. If you are fortunate enough to have a coach who is fully invested in your growth and development, match that commitment with your own actions. Be consistent, be accountable, and be dedicated to the process. Commitment is often the difference between potential and achievement. #coaching #coach #sports

A noticeable evolution is taking place in Florida’s youth track and field landscape. While states like Texas have long embraced specialized event coaching, Florida is steadily moving in the same direction. More athletes and families are shifting away from the traditional track club model and seeking private coaches who provide event-specific instruction and individualized development. The focus is no longer just on being part of a team—it’s on maximizing an athlete’s potential through specialized training tailored to their unique strengths and goals. As a result, it is becoming increasingly common for athletes to work with multiple coaches, each bringing expertise in a specific discipline such as sprints, hurdles, jumps, throws, or distance events. This individualized approach allows athletes to receive targeted technical instruction and a level of attention that can be difficult to achieve in larger group settings.

This platform is a great resource to learn. I’ve learned a lot about the sport of track and field—especially as it relates to how other states and programs function. Rules, regulations, systems, performance, etc… EACH ONE TEACH ONE! #trackandfield

In the sport of track and field, personal records (Pr’s) often occur unexpectedly and can appear effortless. It is important to recognize that these performances are the result of precise execution, not effort alone. #trackandfield #speedtraining

The transition from being a boys hurdler in middle school to high school is drastic. And to make it even more complex the rules / heights are different between AAU (30”) & USATF (33”). Then the boys get to high school where the hurdle height increases to 39”. As a sport we should look to make the transition as seamless as possible. Thoughts???? #hurdles #trackandfield

HS Track Athletes - If you’re still running the same times you opened the high school track season running. There’s most likely an issue with the system. #trackandfield #speedtraining

Hill sprints up for the athletes. We don’t have many hills in Florida where we’re located, but we use what we have. #trackandfield #speedtraining

Watching these youth athletes beat professional track and field athletes has me asking—what makes an athlete a “Professional” track and field athlete? #trackandfield #speedtraining

Recently an athlete asked me “Why do you coach? What keeps you going?” Answer: For me, coaching is about nurturing athletes’ potential and watching them thrive. It’s not just about track; it’s about guiding them to become the best version of themselves. The true value of coaching lies in the life skills and values we teach, which stay with athletes long after they leave the track. #trackandfield #mentoring instagram.com/p/DV_O8QzDutG/…

I’m here at Nike Indoor Nationals watching athletes run some insanely fast times. My questions is, where do they go from here? Will they continue to run faster, stay stagnant or eventually sprint slower? Thoughts 💭 #trackandfield #speedtraining

A coaches or trainers body of work will do all the speaking necessary for them. If they’re constantly coming out of their mouths that’s a red flag 🚩 #trackandfield #speedtraining
