There will rightly be focus on the #dday80 land campaign today but the naval operation enabling and then sustaining the landing and subsequent operations was crucial. 500 Australian sailors served under Admiral Ramsay’s command.

Today marks the 60th anniversary of the sinking of HMAS Voyager and the loss of 82 members of @Australian_Navy. 10 years ago we took survivors, families and rescuers to sea to mark the 50 th anniversary. So many people’s lives changed by what happened #OTD #LestWeForget

The St George Illawarra Dragons are deeply saddened by the passing of St George Dragons and rugby league immortal Johnny Raper. Raper passed away following a long battle with illness. He was 82.

Part of our Indigenous military history put right today as Boer War 2 tour veteran and Yuin man Trooper Jack Alick Bond’s grave is dedicated and appropriately marked at Botany Cemetery. Jack believed to be the first Aboriginal soldier to receive a campaign medal.
