Mozeliak’s Legacy Deserves Respect, Even when the Cardinals Needed a New Direction
Mozeliak gave the Cardinals stability, winning seasons, postseason baseball, and a World Series title. That matters. But the final years also showed the danger of staying too long with the same voice, same methods, and same cautious roster-building approach. His tenure should be judged honestly: not worshiped, not trashed.
He left the organization better than most executives ever manage to build one — but not strong enough for where the game is headed now. That is why Chaim Bloom’s arrival feels less like a rejection of Mozeliak and more like the necessary next chapter.
