Latch’s core differentiator is its ability to delegate authority to AI agents while maintaining strict control through hardware-enforced governance. 1. Delegation Without Exposing Secret Keys Traditional AI agent systems often require users to share API keys or direct access credentials, creating security risks. Latch solves this by: Storing secret keys securely. Granting agents limited-scope “latch tokens.” Ensuring the original keys are never exposed to the agent. 2. Every Action Is Verified Before Execution Instead of trusting agents to follow instructions, Latch introduces an enforcement layer between the agent and the action. Every API call or operation passes through a policy engine. Policies are enforced within an attested hardware environment. Any action that violates predefined rules is automatically blocked. 3. Runtime Governance Instead of Prompt-Based Trust Most AI systems rely on prompts such as: “Do not perform action X.” Latch changes this model to: “You cannot perform action X because the system will prevent it.” This represents a shift from guidance to enforcement. 4. Verifiable Audit Trails Every decision and action is recorded, including: Which agent performed the action. Which tools were used. Which policies were applied. The associated costs and outcomes.
