Rodri on people underrating Spain ahead of the World Cup:
π£οΈ βI find it funny, honestly. Every tournament it's the same story. People talk about the favourites, the superstars, the headlines, and somehow Spain keeps getting left out of the conversation.
Maybe it's because we don't make as much noise as others. Maybe it's because people have become obsessed with individual players instead of great teams.
But when I look at our squad, I see world-class players in every position. I see players winning league titles, Champions Leagues, and competing at the highest level every single week.
What surprises me is how quickly people forget. Spain doesn't have a history of showing up at tournaments hoping to compete. Spain shows up expecting to win.
The disrespect doesn't bother us. In fact, it helps us. Every time someone says we're not among the favourites, it gives the dressing room another reason to prove people wrong.
And let's be honest, some of the teams getting more attention haven't achieved half of what this generation of Spanish players has achieved at club level.
People can keep talking about the same countries if they want. They can keep pretending Spain isn't a serious threat.
But I've learned something in football: the most dangerous team is usually the one nobody is talking about. And if the world continues to underestimate us, they may get a very unpleasant surprise when the knockout rounds begin.β
