Summary in brief: The IQ curve for the population of the entire US and the world has shifted left because of lead. More of us have learning disabilities. Fewer of us are considered gifted. #publichealth cc @NCHH

This is my water filter. My filter can bring clean safe water to communities dealing with a lead crisis (Like Flint, MI and Newark, NJ). It's powered by @Hydroviv_h2o. Every $1 donated provides the equivalent of 160 bottles of water. gofundme.com/f/TeamMariWater

...Yet being based in the American provinces sharpens my sense for what travel writers get wrong when they arrive in new places. As @JamesFallows has pointed out, the surest way to misunderstand a place like Kansas is to lead with a political lens instead of a human one...(3/5)

I truly think the scale of how horrified the Latino community is right now is not being understood, which is why the reporting about this moment is so important. So a quick story. I was chatting w/ a friend I met through the course of my work and she told me she had been crying.

Artists installed seesaws at the border wall so that kids in the U.S. and Mexico could play together. It was designed by architect Ronald Rael. ⁣ ⁣ Beautiful reminder that we are connected: what happens on one side impacts the other. šŸ‡²šŸ‡½ ā¤ļø šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø

Let’s be clear. Trump’s racist attacks on Ilhan Omar will have violent consequences for Muslim women everywhere. Please make sure to look out for them in these ugly times. And sisters — please keep walking with your heads held high. And please also make sure to be safe.

At #CfASummit, Vivian Graubard tells of a time a philanthropy offered support to help solve problems with tech at the border, but only if they'd build a solution on the blockchain. Funders, with all due respect, please do not do this. This is not how to solve our civic problems.

We live in a culture where geography doesn't matter. Place doesn't matter. Context doesn't matter.

So in short: Lead is bad. It's kind of everywhere. And even there's little incentive to do anything about it. So here we are, in the year 2019, and while the general issue of lead has improved over the last few decades, we're here talking about the fact that there's lead in food.
