โณ Only 5 days left in our Creator Contest โ and we're still swooning over the stories coming in.
๐ป Little Gong-i had no money, but he really wanted to give his mom something beautiful for Mother's Day.
So he asked the wise old owl in the forest โ and the owl whispered about three magical gifts that mothers truly love.
The first? Tiny hands gently massaging Mom's back while she's cleaning.
The second? A soft hug from behind while she's washing dishes.
The third? A paper flower โ drawn crookedly, but made with so much love.
When Mom held that paper flower, she smiled and said:
"It has the sweetest scent in the world โ because it holds your beautiful heart." ๐ธ
And that's when little Gong-i understood: the thought of Mom is the greatest gift of all.

๐ง๏ธ Rainy morning. Empty pockets. One very determined little girl.
Meet Maren โ she had no money to buy a Mother's Day gift, so she went around the house collecting scraps: an old shoebox, a piece of ribbon from last year's birthday, faded photos from between the pages of books, a pressed golden leaf from October, and a crayon drawing of herself and Mom under the apple tree.
Then she wrote a poem. In her best handwriting.
"Your hugs are cozy blankets,
Your smile is morning light,
Your laugh fills up the kitchen
And makes everything feel right."
When Mom opened the box, she smiled wider than the sky. ๐ค๏ธ
"You filled it with love โ and that's better than anything money could buy."

๐ญ Okay I have to share this one โ the art alone is worth the click.
"The Crystal Lily Surprise" is rendered in full 3D CGI, Pixar-style warmth, and what really got me was the character consistency.
Three little mouse siblings โ Barnaby in his blue cap, Daisy with her yellow bow, Pip with his little red scarf โ travel from a cozy glowing burrow to a bright outdoor garden to a very unexpected magical situation ๐
and their look, their expressions, their personality stay perfectly locked in across all 28 pages. That's genuinely hard to do and it shows.
The story is a fun, warm Mother's Day one too โ about what happens when a surprise gift goes a little more spectacularly wrong than planned. ๐ธ

It's Children's Book Week ๐ โ this year's theme: "Books: Get Curious." And Martina Pincione's "Justin's Nature Toys" on ReadKidz might be the most perfect illustration of that spirit I've seen.
Justin isn't interested in plastic blocks or toys from a shelf. For him, the whole earth is a treasure chest. At the shore, he sifts warm sand for sun-bleached shells. In the backyard, he collects stones that shine like agates and tiger's eye. One quiet afternoon, two snails climb onto his knees and stay, and he lets them. When other kids fill the kiddie pool with rubber ducks, Justin fills his with tadpoles and watches them dart through the water.
And then one day, he finds a lime. He draws it a face. He names him Limey. They spend the afternoon together in the garden, two companions sharing the day.
It's a gentle, lyrical story that never moralizes, it just shows you a boy who sees magic where most people walk right past. By the last page, you'll want to slow down too.

This story is such a fun take on that feeling of wanting everyone to look at you. Kara finds these ruby-red sneakers with disco-light soles that are supposed to be for the playground, but she cannot resist wearing them to her friend's quiet piano recital. The chaos that follows is honestly every kid's nightmare. Those shoes have a mind of their own and start doing a full-blown cha-cha right in the middle of a Mozart piece.
The illustrations are so full of energy and bright pops of color that you can almost see the lights flashing off the page as Kara gets spun around the room. I love how the art captures her transformation from being excited about her flashy shoes to being completely exhausted as they take her on a wild trip through the park.
It tells us that what truly makes you shine isn't the brightest shoes or a flashy appearance, but learning to listen, taking breaks when needed, and being your most authentic self.

Honestly, we have all probably met a "Mirabel" in our lives. She is famous across her entire kingdom for just one thing: her massive, stubborn pout.
Nothing seems to work for poor Mirabel. Her mother tries tickling her toes and her father offers shiny ribbons and sweet cakes, but she just crosses her arms and pushes her lips out even more. It is that classic "everything is wrong" mood that kids (and let's be real, adults too) get into sometimes.
The story takes such a lovely turn on a gloomy, rainy afternoon when Mirabel hears music drifting from the ballroom. I love how Michelle describes the way the music wrapped around her like a soft scarf as she finally begins to let go of her frown. The illustrations are so vibrant and expressive, especially the scenes where the dancers twirl in "sparkling circles." You can almost feel the weight of her pout lifting as the pages turn.
But can a simple "swish, swish, twirl" really be enough to break a kingdom-sized pout for good? You will have to see for yourself how Mirabel finds her own rhythm and replaces those sighs with laughter that sounds like bells. It is such a sweet, gentle reminder of how art and movement can help us process those big, heavy feelings that words sometimes can't touch.
