ALT Army CID celebrated the Army's 251 years of service with a traditional cake cutting ceremony. In keeping with a long-standing custom, our youngest present, CPT Savanna Jo Aversa, Army CID Director L. Scott Moreland, and oldest Soldier, CW5 Paul Arthur cut the cake using a ceremonial military saber. This tradition proudly represents the passing of history, knowledge, and experience from the senior generation to the newest generation of Soldiers.

ALT Army CID joins guests to include law enforcement partners and familes of the fallen in a group photo at the National Law Enforcement Memorial, D.C.

ALT Army CID and the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Laboratory recently participated in the annual Africa Lion joint exercise, providing direct training to the Tunisian military’s Weapons Intelligence Team. Africa Lion is AFRICOM’s largest annual joint exercise, with 5,500 personnel from 40 partner nations participating in events throughout Africa.

ALT Special Agents from the Europe Field Office, and USACIL forensic specialists, provided our Tunisian partners hands-on training in advanced crime scene documentation and exploitation as well as current forensic techniques.

ALT Army CID’s Central Texas Field Office brought together over 50 local, state, and federal partners for a hands-on Central Texas Forensic Working Group training event focusing on the complex challenges of clandestine graves and scattered remains.

ALT Special Agent Liquat Ali “Leo” Khan Special Agent Khan, 51, had served with CID for 15 years at the time of his death. During his time, he served as a team chief, intelligence officer-in-charge and the special agent-in-charge at West Point. Khan suffered a fatal heart attack while participating in the agency’s U.S. Army physical fitness test. He was posthumously promoted to Chief Warrant Officer 4. He is survived by his wife and son.
