Get this one a lot….wanting more power and wondering why it’s not there. This is a perfect example of landing really hard on the stride foot and coming off of the back foot. Back leg straightens and the head and body move forward. Causes him to be behind the heat and in front of off speed. That’s a bad place to be for a hitter. This young fella, at address, is in a nice position….with a softer stride and staying in that back knee, I do believe results will follow. Back knee bent throughout and swing ‘north’! Hope this helps…

@RealCJ10 this is my 16 yr old. Solid hitter, rarely strikes out, needs to add power. Any thoughts? Both of these are off speed pitches but I think he moves to laterally 🤷🏻‍♂️

Switch hitters….listen up! Two things….twice as many swings daily from your weak side than your strong side. It’s the only way to eventually get them equal. Secondly, try to do a lot of the same things from each side, i.e. setup, stance and hand position, so that there aren’t a bunch of swing thoughts clouding ur mind. Love what this young fella is doing….similar setups. Love that the bat starts on the shoulder and snaps up to hitting position. Soft front stride, back knee bent…excellent. More swings lefty for him….not as free and easy throughout the swing as he is righty, but you are well on your way….nice job!
Heyo @RealCJ10 I’ve loved seeing your posts over the last week or so & since I’ve been working on switch hitting a bit more, I’d love to get some tips from one of the best switch hitters in the game. If you get a chance to see this, please let me know what you think.

This is about as good of a swing as I’ve seen in the last week. Got a little Michael Brantley in him. Soft stride….back knee bent throughout the swing,so he stays balanced. Swings north through centerfield wall. Whoever is working with this young fella is doing a fine job! Clean and quiet keeps the head and eyes still. Well done!

@RealCJ10 I love what you do with your baseball swing evaluations. Any thoughts on a young softball player?

Can’t forget the ladies, right? Ok, this is a perfect example of ‘cutting off the swing’. She is fine up until contact. Once contact is made, the swing turns immediately ‘west’. She needs to swing with more extension, ‘north’ through the centerfield wall. Her ‘west’ swings produce grounders to short and third. Her ‘north’ swings will produce backspin liners up the middle. Ball on a tee, liners thru the back of the cage, til she gets that ‘swing north’ feel. Hope this helps…

Overall, pretty solid here. Keeps the back leg bent through the whole swing, so the balance is really good upon finish of the swing. Front elbow is bent, so no arm bar which is preferred. The only thing I would work on is the bat wrap. Bat almost points at pitcher as he loads. Top of the bat, ideally, should split the middle of his head. I only bring this up because the wrap could cause him to have a hard time catching up to velocity. Hope this helps…

@RealCJ10 i was wondering if we could get some pointers too. How can he get better. My son is 12 and we will be going to Cooperstown on the 17th.

Love how athletic he looks at the plate. His set up is perfect! That being said, when they’re 10,11,12 yrs old, they have to grow in to and develop power. There is no secret sauce where consistent power magically appears. I wouldn’t change a thing. Keep this set up, bat flat, in the zone as long as possible. Singles and doubles will turn into HRs as he gets bigger, faster and stronger. He’s off to a great start with this set up!

Anytime the top of the bat almost points at the pitcher during stride, thats a long way to go to catch up with velocity. Abbreviate the load a bit. Get him to think thru the centerfield wall, not over it. That will allow front elbow to go more directly to the ball. He has a bit of an arm bar (straightening) of that elbow, which also is slowing him down. Hope it helps…

Quick story about Kyle Busch….Johnny Bench and I threw out the first pitch at the baseball game at Bristol last yr to Chase Elliott and Kyle. During the rain delay I asked who has won the most races at Bristol. Cup wise, we threw out names like Rusty Wallace and Darrell Waltrip. Kyle was quick to remind us that he had more thru ALL circuits of racing at the track. He was a dawg behind the wheel and I’m saddened to hear of his passing today. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Hug ur people! Sad day in the racing world.

Haven’t posted on social in quite some time but can’t stay quiet in this time of loss. I’m struggling to tell all what Bobby Cox meant to me and so many others in Braves Country. He was the leader of men and a second father to so many Atlanta Braves thru the yrs. I’m so sad today, but as I sit here watching my two youngest boys play in their championship games on the day he passed, I can’t help but shout the same things he did from the corner of the dugout. ‘Come on kid, u got this!’ We are gonna miss him so much, but his legacy is forever cemented with the success of this franchise for the last 35 yrs. He started it as GM, continued as manager, and passing the torch to others, the Atlanta Braves will continue to be force that Bobby Cox always wanted us to be. We love you Skipper. You were our rock. I love you more than words can express. My boys won both of their games…..Bobby had a hand, I have no doubt!

Seahawks/Patriots in the SB….not exactly what people thought preseason, but I like the matchup. Two upstart coaches, two really good defenses. Hate that we have to wait 2 weeks to see it!
