I asked Spurs coach Mitch Johnson about Wembanyama not being on the court for the U.S. National Anthem in Games 3 & 4 after crossing his arms during Game 1.
Johnson said āthereās plenty of players not on the floor for the anthemā for myriad reasons such as habit or superstition.

There are a lot of people commenting that heās French. I understand that. I grew up in a town with a hockey team in the OHL and Iāve heard the Canadian National Anthem more times live than some Americans have heard our anthem.
We also stood respectively during their anthem. If people around us were talking during, my dad always made it a point to tell them to show respect.
Thatās how I raised. Apparently some of the people in the comments were raised differently š¤·š»āāļø

ESPN cameras showed down-the-line anthem shots of all players from both teams in Games 1, 2 and 3.
But in Game 4, after questions grew about Wemby not being visible during Game 3, ESPN stopped showing the entire teams.
Was that on purpose? ESPN did not respond when asked.

None of this proves intent.
But it raises obvious questions for Wembanyama, the Spurs, the NBA, its media and ESPN.
This could all be cleared up with one answer.
Why hasn't anyone provided that answer?
