There was no argument and the fire wasn't caused by her cellphone exploding - both lies to downplay the horror and absolve the perpetrator, probably because the victim was a young white female. This monster - a violent black felon on bail with a massive rap sheet - was allegedly filmed buying the flammable fluid before he boarded the train and deliberately targeted the unsuspecting victim without provocation. This is what you get in cities run by BLM Democrats who defund the police and empty the jails. Sheer evil.
NOT TRUE:
(From WGN) “Officers said the victim, a 26-year-old woman, was on the train when she GOT INTO AN ARGUMENT WITH A MAN. Police said the argument eventually became physical when the man poured a liquid onto the woman and set it on fire.”
WHAT THE U.S. ATTORNEY SAYS IN HIS COMPLAINT:
There was no argument.
The victim was attacked without provocation — just like Iryna Zarutska.
Federal prosecutors say a Chicago man approached the victim on a Blue Line train with no interaction beforehand, and when he was arrested the next day he repeatedly yelled at officers: “burn alive b--ch.”
According to the U.S. Attorney’s complaint, surveillance footage shows Laurence Reed sitting at the far back of the train car, several feet away from the victim, just before 9:30 p.m. Monday.
The victim was seated with her back to Reed when he walked up, removed the cap from a bottle, and poured liquid all over her head and body before trying to ignite it.
She fought him off and ran to the front of the train. Reed then lit the bottle itself and used it to set her on fire.
The complaint states that surveillance footage captured the woman’s body “engulfed in flames.” She tried to extinguish the fire by rolling on the ground. When the train stopped at Clark and Lake, she managed to exit before collapsing on the platform — as Reed simply walked away.
The facts: There was no argument. This was an unprovoked attack.
