I'm winding up my 2000 ad prog cover posts this week😒 but they'll be a few little treats on the way. πŸ™‚ Like these four back pages. From the very start, the comic always admirably recognised its artists and writers. Did you have a favourite art droid from this quartet?

Spotted in a Charing Cross Road bookshop window yesterday. Pulp paperback cover of the week. Insert the 'DJ John Peel, "Three more from them later..." silly band name joke' here.

Things they don't tell you when you hit sixty. You'll start getting recommended multiple YouTube videos from men in their sixties telling you about the things they don't tell you when you hit sixty.

I just picked up the new Edinburgh Fringe guide. For how long has the brochure had the thickness of a paving stone? The purple comedy section alone is the size of the entire guide from six years ago. How do all these hundreds of turns afford to put on shows in these lean times?

Prog 517 "MY EYES! MY BEAUTIFUL EYES!!!" They did this subtle trick on the previous issue; making the price tag the same colour as the background so it blends in without the reader noticing the galaxy's greatest comic has just gone up a penny. Devious.

Start your run up to the weekend by listening to the lilting tones of a brass band playing The Final Countdown by Europe. Or not. youtube.com/watch?v=M3kT80Ln…

Prog 516 Nifty artwork, but that contrived banner pun is of a Daily Star headline standard.

Fairly recent chazza shop LP find bought on the strength of the silly sleeve art. 1976 album by short lived London rock band, Tiger (who were supporting Hawkwind on tour that year). As Tony would say, "They're grrrrrrrreat!" 🐯youtube.com/watch?v=kLG5o6MK…

Prog 515 That's the look of someone who's just enjoyed tucking into a hotdog.

Last night in Gordon Ramsey's restaurant, I walked into the kitchen and served the head chef some Cornish turbot, with asparagus and wild garlic. He had me thrown off the premises. Ramsey can dish it out, but he can't take it.

Quick question comedy nerds. Who's the actor in this screenshot from 1984? I think he's Greek. Doing my nut in.

Prog 514 Ah, this issue came out on the weekend of my 21st birthday. What was the wish I made as I blew out the candles? That would be telling but its fulfilment has come pretty darn close so far.

I'm not a religious man, but even so my Aldi shopping receipt this afternoon gives me concern.

Prog 513 The eagle eyed among you will have spotted Dredd's profile in the letter 'J'. A cool subtle detail, but it looks like Joe is about to make himself puke, much like the logo for the long gone Happy Eater restaurant chain.

I've just heard Anthony Head has sadly passed away. I spent a lot of time with Tony during the Little Britain tour and he was as lovely and charming as I hoped he would be. Funny, warm generous, great actor with perfect timing... an all round good egg. R.I.P. Prime Minister.

Never mind the Balok - this little shit scared the excrement out of me - and was seen in the end titles of one season -all season... ( Brilliant cosplay here)

Yesterday, a young woman fundraising for charity approached me in Holloway Road and with a big smile on her face asked, "Can I have a quick one?" I smiled back, but strolled on. Then, I heard her say it to the geezer walking behind me. Somebody tell her.

Spotted this in a chazza shop yesterday. Did American kids similarly receive a belated PBS authorised 'Blakes 7' annual in their Christmas stockings in 1991 ten years after the series was axed?

Prog 512 Over the past couple of years of posting 2000 ADs, I've tried to resist saying "This would make a great album cover!", but drokk it, 'this would make a great album cover! Whaddayathink? Afrobeats compilation? A Scientist Dub Session? A new direction for Lionel Richie?
